The parent chapter of MIT Alumni Association has set up a trust called the AMITA Trust. This Trust has a mandate of
1. Helping deserving but economically weaker students to continue
their studies without a great strain on their finances. The scholarship
is worth Rs 20,000/- per annum. Since 2004, more than Rs 75 lacs. was
given as Scholarship amount.
2. To help the needy students of MIT in expensive emergency health care.
3. To set up a Book Bank for students and to annually augment the books at the library.
AMITA Trust had been doing these activities from the income derived
through generous contributions by the Alumni worldwide. The Corpus has
presently around Rs.5 Cores and the contributions have come from more
than 600 Alumni spread over the globe. The Trust is keen to augment this
Corpus to not only continue the above schemes but also to expand to
schemes like
• Supporting Technical projects at MIT
• Setting up an Alumni Chair at MIT
• Skill development Programme etc
Nothing is possible without the active participation by the Alumni.
The appeal from the Trust is enclosed. Individual, Collective
contributions are welcome from Alumni. All contributions to AMITA Trust
are eligible for Income Tax exemption (as per the IT Laws).
Trustees of the AMITA Trust would like to thank all the donors who have
contributed generously towards the corpus. A big salute their commitment
to the Alma Mater and the students.
